Our New Music Room and teacher is here! Have you been wondering, “What are they doing with those portables?” Have you heard from your child, “Wow we had Music today and the Music teacher is so much fun!”
Walk by the affectionately named Grizzly Cabins, and you will hear the sweet sounds of Music taught by our new Music Teacher, Miss Lorelei Isidro. It’s your donations to the Grizzly Growth Fund and other Educational Foundation Fundraisers that have made this amazing space happen for our children. We had a chance to join in on a class yesterday and ask Miss Isidro few questions.
Q: Miss. Isidro, I notice that you have many instruments setup. What is your hope the children will learn in your class
A: I’m hoping to teach them Music Theory Fundamentals, to Broaden their Music Knowledge, to grow a better understanding of Music Genres, and to embrace World Music.
Q: What a great space you have here are you enjoying the Grizzly Cabin?
A: Yes I am so thankful to have this spacious room with large windows for music instruction.
Q: How long have been teaching music?
A: 17 years.
Q: Have you worked in the Poway Unified School District?
A: This is my first time. I’m loving working here at Willow Grove,
Q: How often do you teach Music Class?
A: Four days a week
Q: What are you teaching them this week?
A: This month we have a Fall Theme. We are working on Percussion Instruments, learning rhythm and how to conduct themselves in a band setting, working as a team to make music. We are learning Fall Songs, you may have heard your child singing the Eerie Canal Song?
Q: Yes I have!
A: In September we had a Working Music Theme, we learned a Labor Day song and a Railroad Song. Our Fall Theme will continue into November and then we will have a new theme in December.
Q: What is your favorite genre of music?
A: My music tastes change and evolve over time, for now I’m enjoying old Jazz and Vintage Country. I love to play the Piano and the Ukulele.
Miss Isidro is in room G1, the first portable on the left, and teaches Music Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Friday.
