SALUTE TO TEACHERS ~ STEPHANIE MARTIN WILL REPRESENT PUSD
On Saturday, Oct. 11th, Stephanie Martin, our Transitional Kindergarten Teacher, who is one of Poway Unified’s District Teachers of the Year will be honored along with other District Teachers of the Year from San Diego County at the televised Salute to Teachers event at downtown San Diego's historic Balboa Theater. We are very proud of her and are thrilled that she will be representing Poway Unified School District at this event!!!
REFLECTIONS
Calling all creative Grizzlies- Don't forget, the last day to submit your National PTA Reflections applications is Thursday, October 16! Submit an original art piece in photography, literature, dance choreography, movie production, music composition, or art! Every student who participates will receive recognition, and may even advance to the national competition! Check out the Reflections table by the front office, for more information.
BOOK FAIR IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!
Our 7th annual Book Fair opens for business on Monday, October 13th! The Book Fair will be located in the LIBRARY this year through Friday, Oct. 17th. Classrooms will have specific days and times to visit the Book Fair and children can purchase books then as well. Attention Dads and Grandpas! Donuts for Dads morning will be Wednesday, Oct. 15th from 8 to 9:30 a.m. We will have coffee and donuts (free!!!) and lots of books for sale! Proceeds from the Book Fair benefit the library, PTA and our wonderful teachers. Come shop in the Library for the latest good reads for our Grizzlies! Congratulations to the Grizzlies who were picked to jump start our Book Talks with Mrs. Huff!!! We look forward to hearing your reviews!
FAMILY PORTRAIT NIGHT
This year’s Family Portrait Night will be Thursday, October 16th, from 3 to 8 PMin the MPR, and the Book Fair will be open for business late this night!. Sitting fees are only $30.00! Dress the family up or take more casual pictures; maybe your family has matching PJs you could all wear? Be fancy, be silly, be creative! Make the photo shoot unique to your family!

FALL FESTIVAL HOEDOWN!
Save the date, Oct 25th from 1:00 – 4:00, for our Fall Festival Hoedown! We will have line dancing, square dancing, BBQ, and the pumpkin patch as well as the return of our famous cake walk! Shine your boots and put on your best cowboy hat for our fun fall tradition!

The PTA would like to say thank you to all of those who supported the Mixed Bag Fundraiser. We raised $3,789.63 for our school. That’s AWESOME!!! If you are still interested in purchasing Mixed Bags, you can access them online until December. Our school will still receive proceeds from these purchases. Don't forget they have sturdy and stylish reusable bags! Perfect for the new law that was passed no longer allowing plastic bags in California stores starting real soon!!! WE CARE BEARS
Do you have a gently used stuffed animal or toy that is simply lying around your house? We've got great news! Student Council is once again teaming up with the organization We Care Bears to provide instant comfort to kids in unbearable situations. We can help by collecting bags of stuffed animals for first responders and other organizations that work with children who may be scared or injured. From October 20- 24, please send in any new or gently used stuffed animals. There will be a donation bag in the office and each child's classroom. Thanks for your support!
